Samir Nasri has strong words for his former club Arsenal. He previously played for Arsenal before moving to Manchester City. Nasri made the move across to Arsenal in 2008, playing three seasons for the Gunners before going north, where he would win two league titles across five years.
Strong words Samir Nasri has to say
In an interview published in today’s L’Équipe, former France midfielder Samir Nasri previews tonight’s Premier League title-deciding clash. He had his views between his two former clubs in England, Arsenal and Manchester City. He went on to say:-
“I can’t wait for it, because the winner will have one hand on the title, and the fact that these are two clubs that meant something for my playing career”.
“City are reaching the peak of their form at the right moment, with all of their players being available for the run-in, unlike previous years. Meanwhile, Arsenal are slowing down, having been in the lead virtually all season. Sometimes, when you’re so close to your goal but you’re not used to winning, you get the jitters.”
“I spent three great years at Arsenal, and in the end things didn’t go well with the supporters, but there is no issue with those at the club.”
Guardiola has said repeatedly that Arsenal are favorites to win the title because of their position at the top of the table. But he’ll be quite happy with how the run-in is going. Particularly after Arsenal’s run of three straight draws to drop six points in two weeks.
City have been in this position so many times over the past 10 years that they won’t be fazed by a crucial game against their title rivals in mid-April. They’re playing well, key players are fit and in form, and they’ll go into the game at the Etihad Stadium as favorites, and for good reason.
