Chelsea to go after Feyenoord FC’s young left back

Wright Chelsea's Potter

Chelsea are having a terrible season and the fans along with the board are disappointed. Mauricio Pochettino took charge of the blues and has not been able to make his impact on the team. Chelsea are currently on 8th position in Premier League and also headed for another trophyless season. This is likely to get the Pochettino sacked at the end of the season. He was also a bit unlucky with the amount of injures Chelsea suffered. Ben Chilwell is one of the names who has missed a majority of season due to injury. Chelsea may sign Quilindschy Hartman as their new left back. The dutch international is currently having a good season at Feyenoord FC.

Chelsea and their Left Back issues

Ben Chilwell is a good quality player but is having an injury prone season so far. His performances were still not on top of the level when he was fit. This has caused a lot of problems to Chelsea on the full back position. Cucurella is the current player used by Pochettino as left back. Chelsea also had Ian Maatsen whom they loaned to Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund are happy with Ian and are planning to make him their permanant starter next season. Along with Dortmund, Aston Villa and Manchester City are also interested in signing Maatsen. The Blues are going to charge £35 million for the left back and are certain to receive it this summer.

With Maatsen leaving this summer, Chelsea could go after 22 year old Dutch international. Hartman will cost around £25 million to £30 million according to Football Fancast. Hartman has had 7 assists in the 38 appearances he made for the Dutch side. His stats are superior when compared to Chilwell with whom the Dutchman has to fight for the spot if he arrives at Stamford Bridge. Hartman has better ball control, more assists, more tackles and interceptions, recovered ball more and won more ariel duels than Chilwell. Arrival of Hartman could cause Ben Chilwell competition for his spot in the squad.
