Arsenal monitoring Viktor Gyokeres very closely

Arsenal

There have been recent rumours about Arsenal interested in signing Viktor Gyokeres. The 25 year old striker is being closely monitored by the Premier League side. Arsenal strikers have not had good season despite the gunners being the team scoring most goals in Premier League. On the other hand Gyokeres is having a great season and catching eyes of top clubs.

Recent reports from Jornal De Noticias claim that the Arsenal scouts have been present to watch all Sporting matches this season. Mikel Arteta has been huge admirer of the Swedish international and wants him at the Emirates stadium. Arsenal have scored 88 goals in the league this season. Out of those 88, only 9 have came from their strikers. Despite the gunners having great season, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah have failed to make a mark.

As a solution, Arsenal are looking for a new striker. Previously the gunners were linked with Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney. However their primary target now seems to be shifted to Viktor Gyokeres.

What can Gyokeres bring to Arsenal

Viktor Gyokeres is not new to English environment. Before his move to Sporting, the Swedish international played for Coventry City. Ever since his move to Sporting last summer, Gyokeres has scored 41 goals across all competitions. He had an amazing season and now is Portugese champion. In Liga Portugal, Gyokeres is top scorer with 27 goals. Along with scoring, Gyokeres is also on third place for most assists with 10 assists to his name.

Sporting will demand £86 million for their Swedish star. To pay the price, Arsenal also may be seen parting ways with some of their stars this season. Thomas Partey and Gabriel Jesus are rumoured to exit Arsenal camp next season. Jesus said that its the club’s decesion about his future. Mikel Arteta said that they don’t have any intention to let Jesus leave. However if the club wants a striker, Gyokeres is perfect fit and can fill the void of striker is what the scouts believe.
