Alexander Isak replacement out for the rest of the season due to injury

Newcastle United signed Alexander Isak in the transfer window this summer from Real Sociedad as the latter immediately found a replacement in Umar Sadiq.

It is understood that the La Liga outfit have been handed a major blow after Sadiq endured a right knee sprain. The forward took part in the fixture against Getafe and suffered the blow and lost 2-1 to the side.

Now, the extent of the injury is such that Sadiq will miss the matches for the rest of the season. The Nigerian professional replaced Isak who joined the Magpies as their main man in the front line this season.

Isak had been under subject of much speculation regarding a move away from the Spanish club due to his brilliant performances. Moreover, Isak was keen to make a move this summer and join a high-profile league for the new season.

Joining the English top flight seemed like an obvious choice and a challenge the striker wished to take up. However, his replacement at Real Sociedad, Umar Sadiq was touted to be the next big thing for the club.

Sadiq looked like a promising replacement after netting the ball 40 times in 72 outings in the past two years. However, Sociedad will definitely miss his services as the forward is now on side-lines for the rest of the season.

The club published an official statement on the injury that read-

Sadiq Umar suffered a right knee sprain during the Getafe-RS match, held yesterday. After the tests carried out today on the player, he has been diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in the right leg.

He will a start a physiotherapy treatment. However, he will undergo surgical treatment.
