Chelsea are having yet another eventful summer transfer window. The squad is overstaffed in every position, though quantity necessarily always brings results. The Blues upped their game near the end of last season to get into the top 10 bracket. Cole Palmer shares most of the credit for helping his team salvage a 6thplace in the league. If not for his goalscoring form, the Blues would have probably missed out on another season of European football.
Apart from Palmer, Nicholas Jackson is the player who managed to reach double figures with 14 goals. Even 29-year-old veteran, Raheem Sterling, was far from the best of his forms and could only score 8 goals. Noni Madueke showed some glimmer of his potential but is yet to prove his worth.
Chelsea Have the Chance to Sign Leeds Star
Rennes are interested in signing another Leeds star, Cryscencio Summerville. The Elland Road club missed out on a promotion to the Premier League. As a result, the Dutch player has been tipped for a move away from the second-tier football.
A few months ago, top journalist, Fabrizio Romano, suggested a fleeting interest from Chelsea for Summerville. This doesn’t change the fact that Maresca’s team is in need of a winger on either side. The 22-year-old winger scored 19 goals and registered 9 assists to win the Championship’s Player of the Year Award. He is currently valued at €20m which differs from a reported value of €47m offered to Premier League clubs. Those other clubs in race for him include Aston Villa, Newcastle and Crystal Palace.
The situation around Summerville is what makes it more tempting to pick him up. It is reported that he is open to offer from Rennes. But this could change if Chelsea enters the picture. The London club’s presence in the race could make him reconsider his options.

Rennes Midfielder Another Alternative
19-year-old Desire Doue is another player who can be a great addition to the team. Chelsea and their London rivals, Tottenham, are in the race for the French wonderkid. European giant, Bayern Munich, saw their initial offer of £30m rejected by Rennes.
The Ligue1 outfit have set a price tag of £52m for the player. Doue has scored 4 goals and assisted 5 times in a total of 31 matches for the French side. He made his debut 2 years ago at the age of 16 and has perfectly established himself in the senior ranks. Chelsea are actively pursuing and monitoring his case and are eager to close his deal as soon as possible. The Rennes midfielder will also be representing his nation in the Olympics which all the more reason to act swiftly.
