Chelsea fired manager Thomas Tuchel after a disappointing start to the season and the shock result against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
Thomas Tuchel took over the managerial role just 18 months ago after the club decided to sack Frank Lampard. The German is now the latest victim of getting released from the services as a manager at Chelsea.
After a slow start to the Premier League season, it was expected that Tuchel would shift gears and gather momentum. However, the miseries continued in their first Champions League outing after a 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday.
Chelsea sack Thomas Tuchel
The new owner of Chelsea, Todd Boehly is not taking things lightly at the club and demands positive results swiftly. Moreover, Boehly handed a team that Tuchel required yet the latter was unable to get wins for the club.
The club officially announced the departure of Tuchel on its website with the following statement. It read-
On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the Club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club.
Thomas will rightly have a place in Chelsea’s history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup in his time here.
As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the Club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition.
Chelsea’s coaching staff will take charge of the team for training and the preparation of our upcoming matches. The Club moves swiftly to appoint a new head coach.
Chelsea are now on the lookout for a new head coach for the rest of the season at the Bridge.
