New Manchester United signing warned after showboating row Vs. Arsenal

Manchester United are on course to recover from what was proving to be a dismal start to their Premier League campaign.

The Red Devils had been battered in their first two games and are now back with four wins in a row. Moreover, Erik ten Hag seems to be hitting all the spots perfectly, with players performing exceedingly well.

Whereas, new signing Antony, has had a terrific debut scoring a goal in the Theatre of Dreams and making a mark. However, during the match against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, Antony got embroiled in a showboating row the past weekend.

Manchester United signing criticized for showboating

The incident occurred as the striker was close to Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko and began performing unnecessary tricks. Antony has previously spent a significant time at the Dutch club, Ajax being their main man up front in the attack.

However, former Ajax boss Henk ten Cate was left unimpressed with the showboating skills and criticized the player for it. Moreover, speaking in an interview as quoted by Mirror, he said-

“He is not really at the top yet. I measure that by the return that he had in the Dutch league [18 goals and 14 assists in 57 games].

 That’s a bit disappointing,”

“In England, you get sawn off at your ankles. If I was his coach, I would tell him to stop doing that [showboating].”

Earlier, Tottenham forward Richarlison was embroiled in a similar incident against Nottingham Forest and was heavily criticized for the antics. In any case, Antony has gotten off to a phenomenal start and will look to continue the momentum.

Head coach ten Hag will indeed have a word with the former Ajax forward regarding the showboating row. United will look to continue the string of victories as they play their first Europa League outing.
