Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race for 19yo French winger. Bayern Munich have already made a failed bid for the talented winger.
Désiré Doué, a 19yo winger playing in Rennais Fc has attracted the attention of big clubs all across the continent. He is being heavily chased by Bayern Munich and PSG. Now, several premier league teams have joined the race namely : Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal. Bayern made a €35m bid for the winger which was hastily rejected by Rennais-as reported by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano. They are looking for a €60m bid for their young and talented prospect.
Chelsea will try to sign this player as a sort of second choice to Michael Olise who they lost to Bayern Munich. Completing his signing will boost their model of employing young talents. Their left flank has not been impressive. Mykhaylo Mudryk their present left winger has scored only 7 goals in 58 appearances for the club across all competitions. He has been fairly disappointing considering his hefty price tag of €89m.
Tottenham are in pursuit of new talent as well, to help them qualify for the Champions League in the second year under Ange Postecoglou.
Chelsea vs Tottenham : who will win the race?
Chelsea will want to sign this winger to enforce their left flank and bring in someone who will combine with Marc Cucurella. Cucurella, whose exploits were visible at the EURO 2024 will be able to build an interesting combination with Doué. He had 7 goals and 6 assists in League 1 playing for Rennais. He has impressed everyone with his amazing fluidity and flexibility. His skillset shines across various positions in the field and primarily plays as an attacking left mid. His attacking capabilities tied with Cucurella’s defensive solidarity will build a powerful left flank.
However, Chelsea will be battling with Tottenham who will be able to match their offers. With many top clubs in chase of this talented youngster, It will be interesting to see who will win this race. Bayern with an improved bid and PSG with their deep-rooted connections in France might just snatch this deal away from the Premier League clubs.
