Andreas Pereira, a former Manchester United player has attracted interests from Chelsea FC. The Brazilian is open to a move after spending two years at Fulham.
The Blues are looking for an replacement of their homegrown talent, Connor Gallagher. The midfielder has one year left on his contract. Chelsea still have not held any talks on the contract renewal and might be looking to offload the player for £50M. This would boost their books greatly but the departure of Gallagher will leave a huge hole in their midfield.
The Player has reportedly held talks with the management for a transfer. Both parties have accepted, Fulham are willing to let go of their key player for an asking price of £30M to £35m.
According to Globo, Enzo Maresca has approved Pereira’s name as the potential replacement. The Chelsea camp have contacted his agent Kia Joorabchian expressing their interest in the player.
Andreas Pereira, former Man Utd star could be heading to Stamford Bridge
Chelsea have enquired about the Brazilian midfielder in previous seasons as well. He was being considered as Mason Mount’s replacement who joined United last summer.
The Brazilian mostly spent his time at United on loan to other clubs. He has been loaned to different teams in top flight leagues. Pereira played for Granada and Valencia in the Spanish League. He spent two years in the Italian league, playing for Lazio. His return was swiftly followed up by another loan transfer to Flamengo.
During his last season Pereira refused to talk with Erik Ten Hag who joined the Reds that year. Desperate to leave the club, he avoided a conversation with his former coach during his youth days at PSV Eindhoven. Afraid that the Dutchman would persuade him to stay and offer him a recurring role as a substitute and bench player, Pereira looked for an exit.
Pereira ended his disappointing spell at the Old Trafford by joining Fulham for £10M in the 2022/23 season. His desire to contribute as a starter was fulfilled at Craven Cottage. He has been a key player under Fulham manager Marco Silva. He scored 3 times and provided seven assists during his last season. According to Transfermarkt his all time stats for the club stands at 23 goal contributions in 82 appearances.
His performances have attracted several clubs including Chelsea. Monaco and Tottenham have contacted the Brazilian’s agent as well.
Can Chelsea complete the transfer?
Chelsea are breaking their usual policy of signing young players under the age of 24. They want to cover up the hole left in the midfield due to the imminent departure of Gallagher. The blues have already signed players to reinforce and increase their midfield depth. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, the Leicester midfielder has joined the blues for £30M. Other signings include Renato Veiga and Omari Kellyman.
Andres Pereira will team up with Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo for Chelsea’s midfield. It will be interesting to see how they play with each other and contribute to the team.
Chelsea can comfortably pay Fulham’s asking price of £35M. Monaco and Tottenham being the two other pursuers of the Brazilian might lose out on him. Pereira, currently settled at West London will prefer a move to Stamford Bridge.
Currently on an extended leave due to him playing at the Copa America, Pereira’s transfer situation will be settled on his return to Fulham.
