Newcastle United manager explains Elliot Anderson’s new role

Eddie Howe's concern

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has put forth a new role that Elliot Anderson will take up for the club on the pitch.

The Magpies crossed swords with Crystal Palace and Anderson was given a 20-minute cameo to make an impact. The young sensation did not disappoint in helping the club move forward and creating wide space and attack.

The 19-year-old has not cemented a spot in the first-team setup but appears to be a strong candidate. Anderson played on the left side of the attack and contributed a lot to the passes and the attacking play.

Newcastle United manager hands new role to Anderson

Newcastle United have only had one with four draws that make the club sit on the 11th in the Premier League table. However, these are early days in the top flight and the gaffer will look to build a smooth setup to compete.

The coming weeks will be crucial as the club and fans will scrutinize the performances on the pitch by United. Anderson will look to cement his spot as a regular in the next few matches after taking over a new role.

Also, United manager Howe said this about the new role taken over by Anderson. He said-

“I thought he was very bright,”

“I brought him on on the left. Thought our midfield three were doing well at that moment in the game. Didn’t want to disrupt their rhythm.

I thought we had control of the game.

“Sometimes if you make a change to an area that’s functioning well. You have have a negative effect so put him wide.

But it’s an area that he can play, and play very well, and certainly his chopping and turning in the box was very impressive.

“He put a couple of lovely balls in with his left foot, which we probably should have done better with, so I’m very pleased with Elliot.
