Manchester City join the race to sign Chiesa

About Football Express UK

Manchester City have reportedly joined the race with Bayern Munich and Chelsea to sign Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, as per the report in Calciomercato

The 23-years-old joined Bianconeri last summer in a two-year loan deal for €10 million from Fiorentina. A conditional obligation to buy option for €40 million is already in the contract along with €10 million in bonuses.

The winger enjoyed an excellent season at the Allianz Stadium, scoring nine goals and assisting nine times in 33 Serie A appearances. The Italian helped the Italian giants to lift the Coppa Italia trophy last season.

Following a remarkable performance in the Euro 2020, Chiesa has caught the attention of the other European clubs. Bayern Munich and Chelsea have already registered interest in the winger earlier. And now Pep Guardiola’s side are also looking to bring in the energetic Italian.

Will Manchester City sign Chiesa from Juventus?

According to the report in Calciomercato, after enjoying a terrific European Championship and lifting the title, the 23-years-old has become one of the stars in the transfer market. Bayern Munich and Chelsea have already tabled bids for the Italian international. And now Manchester City also registered their name for the Chiesa race.

Despite having an abundance of firepower in the wing position. It is quite odd that the Citizens are still looking to bring in another winger. This could mean that they are trying to offload a few of them. Gabriel Jesus, Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling are also being linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City need to bring in a new world-class centre forward this summer. Harry Kane is the number one choice for Guardiola, but Robert Lewandowski can also act as a cheaper alternative. A world-class striker will certainly make them clear favourites for the next season’s Premier League and also for the Champions League.

Manchester City’s rich owners are looking to invest heavily. After the financial fair play rule has been loosened up for this summer. The City boss wants to sign Harry Kane and Jack Grealish both and now reports are suggesting that they want Chiesa as well.
