Liverpool can make use of Barcelona’s transfer restriction

Frenkie de Jong

“As of today, Barcelona doesn’t have any room in its budget to spend in the upcoming transfer window,” LaLiga president Javier Tebas said on Thursday at the Financial Times’ Business of Football summit in London. The Dutchman may have battled over the past 18 months to fully display his talents to Europe, but he has recently been in excellent form for Barcelona, allowing Liverpool to finally sign him.

Liverpool is getting ready for a summer of significant expenditure, with midfield additions assured.

Making de Jong a new addition for the Reds would energise the entire squad.

If Liverpool takes advantage of the transfer ban, a £63 million midfielder will be waiting for them.

The major two problems with several Liverpool midfielders during the 2022–23 season were a lack of effort and quality.

Jurgen Klopp now needs to figure out how to restore stability and consistency to Anfield after the back five has been repeatedly exposed and has led to early goals after early goals.

Jude Bellingham a priority for Liverpool

The club has identified and designated Jude Bellingham as its top summer transfer target.

Recently, Merseyside has been mentioned as a potential transfer destination for players like Matheus Nunes, Mason Mount, and Teun Koopmeiners.

Liverpool ought to behave in the same manner as the Catalans would if the Premier League forbade them. Bringing in new players, with Barcelona once more facing severe financial peril.

Manchester United pursued Frenkie de Jong last summer, and the Daily Mail now claims that in light of the La Liga president’s statement, they will rekindle their interest.

Man United made a £63 million (€ 75 million) offer. Barcelona accepted last summer, but de Jong refused to leave Camp Nou.

This season, the Red Devils have outperformed Liverpool, but hopefully it won’t continue in the upcoming campaign.

Only if there is a considerable amount of transfer activity this summer could this be the case. It would be exciting to watch a Bellingham and de Jong midfield next season.
