With a quick first half pace, the Red Devils scored the game’s opening goal six minutes in thanks to a thunderous Marcus Rashford strike.

Ayoze Perez of Betis unexpectedly tied the score in the 32nd minute, but United put up an incredible second half to win easily.

Although United scored goals from Antony, Bruno Fernandes, and Wout Weghorst, a larger margin of victory may have been achieved with more proficient goaltending.

Yet, there were a lot of positives, and Aaron Wan-substitution Bissaka’s of Diogo Dalot at halftime stood out to us.

At the beginning of the season, Ten Hag generally ignored Wan-Bissaka. Before the World Cup, the right-back only saw action in four minutes of first-team action.

Wan Bissaka the new Man Utd favourite

The €18 million star, though, has enjoyed a fantastic comeback to his Man Utd career since the competition. Playing for Portugal, he initially benefited from Dalot’s hamstring injury.

Since then, Wan-Bissaka and Dalot have alternatingly played right-back. Although the 25-year-old is not the most skilled offensive player, he seldom fails the club defensively.

In the most recent Carabao Cup final, the right-back put on his greatest performance under Ten Hag. At the half, he took Dalot’s place.

We witnessed something comparable yesterday. Dalot was replaced by Wan-Bissaka at the break. While he had no duels to win, he managed the situation from the right side of the defence.

We believe that under Ten Hag, Wan-Bissaka is swiftly becoming into a fan favourite. Therefore we won’t be surprised if the manager decides not to sign a second right-back during the summer.

In a few games during the past two weeks, Dalot and Wan-Bissaka have each played for 45 minutes, and the rest of the season may see more instances of this.
