Liverpool all set in offloading Thiago Alcantara this transfer window

Liverpool

According to sources from Football Insider, a summer departure for Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara is a possibility and cannot be ruled out. As per Football Insider’s report on Monday, a potential move for the 32-year-old Thiago Alcantara has been postponed. This is due to the imminent departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. They would leave Jurgen Klopp’s side with a shortage of options in midfield.

According to a well-placed source, Liverpool is open to letting Thiago Alcantara leave the club. This is due to concerns over his age and injury issues.

Liverpool is facing financial temptations from Saudi Arabian clubs that are showing interest in signing Thiago Alcantara. Hence, the offers could be too lucrative for the Reds to resist. However, before considering a potential sale, Liverpool would need to bolster their squad with new midfielders. This is as part of their highly anticipated rebuilding process.

What does Liverpool plan to do with Thiago Alcantara?

Reports say that Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp are eager to make two additional midfield signings after finalizing the exits of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson. The club has already faced midfield shortages due to the departures of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner, whose contracts had come to an end.

During the last season, Thiago made 28 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool. However, he was in the starting lineup for only 21 of those matches. Since joining Anfield from Bayern Munich in 2020, the former Barcelona midfielder has encountered challenges with his fitness. Hence, this affected his playing time.

Thiago’s contract is approaching its expiration in less than 12 months’ time. There is believed to be interest in Thiago from his former club Barcelona, as well as clubs from the wealthy Saudi Pro League, known for their significant spending power.
