About Football Express UK

The summer transfer window has officially concluded and Arsenal have made the most of it during the phase.

Mikel Arteta and the management ensured some vital signings be made in order to get the squad to a competitive level. However, one such name the Gunners were pushing for was Douglas Luiz as it went on till the deadline day.

The Aston Villa midfielder has been strongly linked with a number of clubs across the top flight this summer. Arsenal were heavily invested to secure his services before the deadline day concluded but the transfer eventually didn’t go through.

Arsenal boss opens up about the interest

Arsenal have started off their campaign in a great fashion winning all of the five matches so far this season. Moreover, the Gunners will look to continue the winning momentum in the forthcoming match against Manchester United on the weekend.

The new signings have certainly paid off for the North London club, especially the Gabriel Jesus and Zinchenko deal. Making the signings possible from Manchester City may have been the best thing for the club at this stage.

Earlier transfer expert Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter to drop the interest on Luiz by Arsenal. He said-

“Douglas Luiz, pushing to join Arsenal. He wants the move and official talks are ongoing on £20m fee — personal terms not an issue. Aston Villa will also announce Dendoncker as new signing soon.”

Moreover, the Gooners were pushing for the deal till the dying moments of the deadline day but couldn’t go through. Mikel Arteta in a press conference confirmed the interest by saying-

“We tried… and at the end of the day, we have to bring in the players we feel are right – but we didn’t manage to do it”.

In any case, Arsenal still have a formidable squad in hand and can compete for titles this season.
