Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on 19-year-old Harvey Elliott as the manager believes the player is on for the long run.

The Reds have been hit by injury crisis in the midfield which has cost them in a few matches. However, in the midst of the injury concerns, Harvey Elliott has taken his chance to shine in the first-team setup.

Elliott lost his grandmother earlier this week yet managed to score in the 9-0 win over Bournemouth on the weekend. Moreover, he went on to dedicate his first goal in the top flight to her memory right after scoring.

Pep Lijnders on Liverpool midfielder

Manager Jurgen Klopp has been impressed with the young sensation’s display on the pitch with his confidence resonating perfectly well. Liverpool are on the lookout for a new midfielder with quality who can add more depth to the squad.

The gaffer may have to turn to the market to find a suitable profile before the transfer window closes. However, Elliott has made all attempts to be at par with the rest of the squad to remain competitive.

In an interview, Klopp’s assistant, Pep Lijnders described the player’s performance and his importance on the pitch. He said-

“A proper player,”

“What I like most about him as he is pure joy,”

“I love the way he plays, and he is just 19 as well…wow!”

“He played 30 minutes in the Community Shield [against Manchester City] on the Saturday,”

“He was really good and really important. And then on Sunday, the very next day, he played 90 against Strasbourg.

“After 60 minutes, I called Elliott over to the sideline and I asked the feeling. He just said ‘Pep, I could play all night!’ and ran off.

“That’s Harvey, very mature and very strong mentally,”

No doubt, these statements will boost the player to push himself more and help the club in any manner possible.
