Transfer News: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang completes move to Chelsea

About Football Express UK

Chelsea have officially signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona on the deadline day in the summer transfer window on a permanent deal.

The Blaugrana outfit secured the Gabonese International’s services in January when the rival club Arsenal decided to offload him. Moreover, he has been vital in handing the La Liga side decisive points in matches that secured the second place.

The former North London player is now set to join the Western side of London donning the Stamford Bridge outfit. In 23 outings with Barcelona, the forward managed to net as many as 13 goals across all competitions last season.

Chelsea sign Aubameyang

The exit of Aubameyang was under much speculation this summer after the latest signings made by Barcelona this summer. Moreover, the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha from Leeds United would have seen him slip down the pecking order.

Therefore, a move away from Camp Nou seemed imminent in order to get regular game time this season. Whereas, Chelsea are dealing with problems of their own in the front line due to the lack of goals.

However, even after the signing of Raheem Sterling from Chelsea, the club still needs an out-and-out goal machine. Enter Aubameyang, the player is known for being a killer in front of the goal and can win decisive points.

Upon completing his move to the ‘pride of London’, Aubameyang said this-

‘I’m really happy. It’s an honour to be part of this team and I can’t wait to start.

I have some unfinished business with the Premier League so it’s good to be back and really exciting.’

Moreover, club owner, Todd Boehly too expressed his delight in signing the new no. 9 of Chelsea. He said-

‘Pierre-Emerick is an elite striker with a proven track record in the Premier League and his arrival strengthens our squad, giving us new attacking options.

Thrilled to have Pierre-Emerick on board with us in the new era at Chelsea
