As per the report from journalist Duncan Castles, Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly exploring the possibility of snatching Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane under the nose of Manchester United.
The 28-year-old has expressed his desire to leave Los Blancos this summer. He look for a new challenge in his career. With the Spanish giants, the World Cup champion has achieved every single glory in the world. And now he wants to test himself in the Premier League.
Manchester United are heavily linked with a move for Varane this summer. And reports are suggesting that the agreement on a five-year contract has already been agreed between the two parties.
However, Tottenham Hotspur under the new director of football Fabio Paratici has not given up hope of landing the Frenchman at north London. Spurs are looking to bring a new centre-back this summer and they are linked with Jules Kounde as well.
Can Tottenham Hotspur snatch Varane from Manchester United?
Speaking on PLC’s Transfer Window podcast Duncan Castles claimed that Tottenham Hotspur’s sporting director Fabio Paratici is trying to rebuild the squad this summer. Moreover, Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is one of the main targets to do that. He said:
“There is competition for his services and one of the clubs who are exploring the possibility of doing a deal is Tottenham Hotspur.”
Raphael Varane will certainly make Tottenham Hotspur’s defence very solid. However, at this stage of his career, the Frenchman might be looking to play elite European Football. However, that might not be the case at the north London club. So, it will be hard for Paratici to persuade him for a move to the Lilly Whites.
Nevertheless, the 28-year-old will be a statement signing for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. And this move might tempt Harry Kane to stay for one more year who is desperate for a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Kane as well as the north London club.
