Three England players included in the Euro 2020 TOTT

About Football Express UK

Kyle Walker, Harry Maguire and Raheem Sterling are the England players who have clinched their places in the Euro 2020 team of the tournament.

The Three Lions suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Italy at home. After finishing 1-1 in the 120 minutes of football, Gareth Southgate’s team lost on penalties by 3-2. Moreover, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka missing the final three consecutive kicks have raised criticism for Southgate.

Southgate became only the second manager ever to take an England side in a major tournament final. Thus, Sir Alf Ramsey was the last man to lead the Three Lions in a final where they won the World Cup, unlike Southgate.

The Euro 2020 team of the tournament mostly dominated by the Italian players. Three Englishmen also represented the squad. Denmark, Belgium and Spain also have one representative in this team.

Kyle Walker, Harry Maguire and Raheem Sterling amongst the Euro 2020 TOTT:

Gianluigi Donnarumma selected the best player of the tournament and was between the sticks in this squad. Thereafter, In front of him, four defenders are Walker, Leonardo Bonucci, Harry Maguire and Leonardo Spinazzola.

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s young sensation Pedri was named alongside Jorginho and Denmark midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. In front of the midfield three, there are the front three of Sterling, Romelu Lukaku and Federico Chiesa.

UEFA’s technical observer team picked these names to include in the team of the tournament. David Moyes, Packie Bonner and Robbie Keane are among the names who were in that team including 16 more members of former players and coaches.

The inclusion of Walker is surprising ahead of Luke Shaw who had his best time with the England squad. Even his biggest critic Jose Mourinho had to agree that his former Manchester United man had an unblemished campaign in the Euro 2020. Spinazzola could have been named on the right-back spot and Shaw on the left.

The Champions Italy represented the squad with five members and second-placed England with three. It was a great Euro 2020 campaign and full of upsets. In the end, the deserving team took the trophy to Rome.
