Tottenham Hotspur are almost on the verge of snapping up a deal for Middlesbrough defender Djed Spence later this week.

After the Spurs owners handed manager Antonio Conte a £150m cash injection, the boss is out to make vital signings. The engines are up and running and it appears as though the club’s target Djed Spence will be signed later this week.

According to the Telegraph, Tottenham are on the cusp of signing the England U21 international for a deal worth £15m. Conte hopes the player will complete his medicals and sign the contract sometime later this week.

Spence to Tottenham almost done deal

The right-back has reached personal terms with Tottenham and is keen to work under Conte ahead of the new season. However, the two clubs are still yet to reach a final agreement for the player with the London-based club optimistic.

Spence relished an impressive promotion-winning campaign with Nottingham Forest in his loan stint with the club this season. Moreover, turning his fate for good, the player hopes to be a regular returning to the English top-flight in his next campaign.

Tottenham are looking to bolster their defence having shown the desire to sign Spence earlier but nothing materialized. However, it appears as though a move will be facilitated and the right-back will join the N17 in a few days.

Conte is close to making his fifth signing in Spence after the signings of Richarlison, Bissouma, Forster and Ivan Perisic. With the transfer made by Tottenham already, an overall balance in the team seems to be shaping up.

Conte will look to bring his plans to action in the pre-season and hope to fight for titles this season. Spence’s move to Tottenham could be yet another important signing and one for the future.
