Manchester United’s game against Brighton is also in jeopardy

About Football Express UK

Manchester United’s Premier League game against Brighton & Hove Albion is also under the threat of cancellation as per the report in English outlet Manchester Evening News

Following last week’s encounter against Norwich City, the Red Devils suffered a Covid-19 outbreak in their squad. Several players have tested positive for Covid-19 and have been sent back home along with a few staff who also tested positive.

The midweek clash against Brentford was called off. And now the English outlet is saying that Saturday’s game against the Seagulls could also be abandoned.

According to the report, Manchester United is in contact with the Premier League authority about their current situation. And whether they can field a side who can compete against Brighton.

The report further claims that, although the Red Devils are saying it is too early to say anything about Saturday’s game. There isn’t much expectation that the situation will change in the next 48 hours. Therefore, there is a possibility that this game could also be postponed by the league authority.

When will Manchester United play next if the game against Brighton is postponed?

Following the Covid-19 outbreak in the squad. Manchester United decided to shut down their training center for one day for precautionary measures. 17 players have reportedly trained in the last few days. Cristiano Ronaldo and Fred are pictured among the players who have returned to the training.

Meanwhile, the numbers are short in the United squad during this busy period of the season. The players who have tested positive won’t be able to take part in this Saturday’s game if that goes through and might require to remain sidelined for quite a few more games.

The players are required to go through PCR and lateral flow tests every day before being given the green signal to enter the training center. If someone tested positive then they are being sent straight back home.

So, it will be interesting to see what will happen about Saturday’s game against Brighton. The Seagulls also have positive cases in their squad but played their midweek game against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Therefore, they might be ready to face United.
