Another game week of the Premier League has gone by and there is very little difference among the top three teams and they are way above the rest of the teams in the league.
Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea all won their games and surprisingly they all scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot. Following this result, Manchester City are at the top with 38 points from 16 games, Liverpool are second with 37 points and the Blues are third with 36 points.
Manchester United and Arsenal have won their games against Norwich City and Southampton respectively for the race of the top four. But, West Ham United failed to beat Burnley. Tottenham Hotspur‘s game against Brighton & Hove Albion was called off due to Covid-19 cases in the Spurs camp.
Team of the game week in Premier League:
David De Gea(GK):
The Spaniard displayed a super human-like performance away to Carrow Road and almost single-handedly kept his side in the contest, having made five big saves. With the help of his performance, Manchester United kept a clean sheet and Cristiano Ronaldo scored from the 12 yards to earn an all-important three points.
Antonio Rudiger(RCB):
The Germany international won two penalties against Leeds United in an extremely tight and hard-fought game which earned him a place in this week’s team of the Premier League.
Virgil Van Dijk(CB):
The Liverpool talisman made an early mistake which allowed Ollie Watkins to turn. Apart from that, the Dutchman was flawless throughout the game. Won every single duel and was also tremendous with his distribution.
Ben Mee(LCB):
The Burnley centre-back displayed a solid performance and made six tackles and seven clearances against a superior West Ham side which helped Sean Dyche’s to come away with a point.
Conor Gallagher(RM):
The Chelsea loanee is having a stellar season at Crystal Palace and has displayed yet another great performance against a struggling Everton side. Scored two goals from midfield and was solid enough in defensive works as well.
Youri Tielemans(CM):
The Belgian midfielder made his first start in the Premier League after recovering from injury and displayed exceptionally well. Scored two goals from the midfield pivot role and helped his side to achieve a comfortable victory against Newcastle United.
Jorginho(CM):
Was in doubt ahead of the game but started the game and performed very well. Scored two goals from the penalty spot and earned three crucial points for Chelsea in the title race. The midfielder has now scored three goals in a row from the spot and the Italian fans might feel gutted as he missed two crucial penalties against Switzerland in both games in the World Cup qualifier which forced them to play in the playoffs.
James Maddison(LM):
After a disappointing start to the season, the Englishman has started to showcase his talent in recent weeks. Scored the fourth goal for Leicester against Eddie Howe’s side late into the game and also showed his excellent vision and passing ability when he provided the assist for Patson Daka. Maddison also won the penalty for the first goal.
Martin Odegaard(CAM):
After starting the game on the bench in a few games, the Norwegian has started to showcase his talent as the youngster has now scored three goals in as many consecutive games. The midfielder is starting to become a mainstay in Arsenal’s creative department.
Raheem Sterling(CF):
The English winger displayed an impressive performance against a well-structured Wolverhampton side. He was the biggest threat for the visitors’ defence throughout the game and in the end, scored the important goal from the spot to keep his side at the top of the league.
Patson Daka(CF):
The Zambian was given the opportunity to start and took the chance with both arms. Scored the second goal and also set up the fourth goal for James Maddison.
