About Football Express UK

Tottenham Hotspur has reportedly suffered a fresh Covid-19 blow as a new positive case has been reported as per the report in English outlet The Telegraph

Spurs are already missing quite a few players due to positive covid cases. As the club has reported last week that eight players and five support staff have already been sent to isolation after being tested positive. Last week’s European clash against French side Stade Rennais was postponed along with the Brighton & Hove Albion encounter in the Premier League

According to the report, fresh positive cases are reported as another first-team player has been tested positive for Coronavirus. The club’s u-23 side has also suffered a covid outbreak. And the situation is getting critical for Premier League to handle as a few other clubs have also suffered a covid outbreak.

Manchester United reported that several first-team players have returned positive results and are sent home for isolation. Their Tuesday night game against Brentford has also been called off.

Apart from them, Brighton, Aston Villa, and Arsenal have all reported positive cases from their camp. The Gunners’ staff members have tested positive and no players have returned a positive test.

Will Tottenham Hotspur’s game against Leicester City take place after the Covid-19 outbreak?

The positive Covid-19 cases are rising once again in Europe and England is also suffering from that. Therefore, positive cases among the clubs and the players are also rising. In this situation, there is a fear that the Premier League will have to suspend the league for the time being or not.

As Spurs’ quite a few players tested positive for Coronavirus. They might not be able to assemble a strong squad to fight against Leicester. Their U-23 team has also suffered the outbreak. It will be even harder to fill up the numbers for this encounter.

So, in this situation, the Premier League might have to go back to play the games in an empty stadium or with a limited number of fans allowed in the stadium. If the cases rise, even more, the league authority might have to shut down.

Therefore, the clubs and the league will have to make a decision as quickly as possible. If they persist in the same way then they will have to suspend the league. So, they should continue playing the game with an empty stadium. Germany has already implemented it along with several other European countries.
