Liverpool are reportedly showing interest in Leeds United winger Raphinha and West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen as per the report in English outlet Liverpool Echo.
The Reds are looking to strengthen their squad depth in this upcoming transfer window and have been linked with the aforementioned two players for quite a while. With the future of Mohamed Salah is yet to be resolved, lining up a replacement will be a shrewd decision from the club’s hierarchy.
According to the report, Liverpool have shortlisted Premier League duo Raphinha and Jarrod Bowen to bolster their attacking options. But a move is highly unlikely in January. Jurgen Klopp’s side wanted to make a move for one of them in this summer transfer window. But the incoming was depending on the potential departures of Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri.
Although the latter went to Olympique Lyonnais during the summer. Nobody approached for the Belgian forward which halted Liverpool’s pursuit of one of the aforementioned forwards. Therefore, it will be interesting to see if the same situation persists in the summer transfer window or not.
Will Raphinha or Bowen be a good fit for Liverpool?
Signing one of Raphinha or Jarrod Bowen will be a great acquisition for Liverpool. But it won’t be an upgrade if it comes at the cost of Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian player is enjoying the form of his life and extending the winger’s contract should be the priority for the Anfield club before looking for other options elsewhere.
However, strengthening the squad depth with the addition of one of Raphinha or Bowen will be a shrewd decision from the Reds hierarchy. Both the players have displayed their talents during their time at their subsequent club. And they both will be a perfect fit for Jurgen Klopp’s system.
The Brazilian winger plays for Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United team who likes to play high-press football with intensity. And this will help Raphinha to settle down at Merseyside. If the club were to buy the winger in the upcoming transfer window.
So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Raphinha and Jarrod Bowen. Will Liverpool make a move for any one of them or will they stay put at their subsequent clubs? Only time will tell.
