Chelsea have confirmed the signing of teenage midfielder Cesare Casadei from Inter Milan in the transfer window this summer.
The Blues were keen on landing the player at Stamford Bridge this summer as manager Thomas Tuchel was invested in the deal. Now, the midfielder has signed for Chelsea which keeps him till 2028 agreeing on a six-year contract with the club.
The new signing has arrived at the premises of the London-based club for a fee worth up to £16.8m. Fans have also likened his performances to Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Casadei has welcome the comparisons.
In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, he said-
“I like him a lot for the characteristics he has and for how he plays, he is a player from whom I draw inspiration. But to get to those levels you have to work a lot.
“At Inter, I obviously look at the midfielders, in particular [Marcelo] Brozovic and [Nico] Barella: they are two great champions. What would I steal from them? Barella’s intensity, and Brozovic’s calmness with the ball.”
Casadei joins Chelsea on a six-year deal
This is not the first ‘wonderkid’ signing Chelsea have made in the transfer window this summer. The Blues had previously secured the services of another midfielder in Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa.
Chelsea making attempts to sign the young sensations just goes on to show they are securing the club’s future. Upon his arrival, Blues boss Tuchel outlined his plans with the club for the player for the rest of the season.
Speaking to the club’s official website, he said-
‘I met him yesterday here in the building. We will give him time now to learn the language, to learn what Chelsea is all about, to understand the culture, how we live here, how we train here on a daily basis.
‘Once he’s settled in we will give him opportunities to train with us and show his qualities. We will assess him, have a clearer picture of him and then we will see.’
Moreover, Casadei is definitely a terrific signing made by Chelsea as the player has lots to provide on the pitch.
