Croatian star offered as an option to Chelsea

Chelsea

Croatian defender Josip Juranovic was offered to Chelsea at the beginning of the winter transfer window. Meanwhile, the defender still remains an option for Graham Potter’s side.

It has been a busy transfer window for Chelsea under the new ownership of Todd Boehly. They have gone on to spend over $510m in order to upgrade the squad.

The new management has already signed 15 players. This includes 1 Goalkeeper, 4 Defenders, 4 Midfielders, and 6 Forwards. Moreover, they are looking to make more signings before the end of the winter transfer window.

After the latest signings of Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke, the Blues would be looking to strengthen their right-back position. Reece James has been out injured for the major part of the season.

Meanwhile, Cesar Azpilicueta is quite past his best form and his poor performances are making the Chelsea backline look weaker. As a result, the Blues management is determined to sign a player to cover the right-back position.

Possibility of Josip Juranovic signing for Chelsea

With the limited options available in the market, Chelsea might go on to sign Josip Juranovic from Celtic. As per Sami Mokbel, Celtic defender Juranaovic was offered to the Blues earlier this window. Moreover, he remains an option for the club.

The 27-year-old right-back was one of the best players at the latest World Cup for Croatia. Juranovic started his youth career in Dubrava and eventually earned a promotion to the senior team.

The Croatian defender attracts interest from not only Chelsea FC but also Union Berlin and AC Monza. Meanwhile, the Croatian defender would cost around £7.5 million.

Given the current performances of Juranovic, he might become a good option for Graham Potter‘s side as a backup for Reece James. He may not be an option to push James out of the team, but providing adequate cover and competition will be a huge positive for Chelsea.
