Virgil van Dijk was proven right following Manchester United win

About Football Express UK

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk was proven right in his prediction about Manchester United following their win on Monday.

The Reds endured a disastrous night at Old Trafford after losing 2-1 to United away from home in their third fixture. It was not just about the result, but also the way Liverpool played seemed completely out of place.

United were in complete control of the match dominating it right from start to the end of the 90 minutes. Van Dijk had a chat and made an interesting statement on the game prior to the match against United.

Virgil van Dijk on Manchester United

Both Liverpool and Manchester United came into the match not having made anything significant in the League as of yet. Moreover, both the clubs were looking to earn those three points with United looking hungrier even prior to the game.

In no sense did Liverpool even closely match the level of Manchester United on the pitch on Monday. Undoubtedly Erik ten Hag must be delighted with the performance against the Merseyside club and hope to continue at this level.

Van Dijk made an interesting statement prior to the match against United. He said-

“They [United] are a good team, in my opinion, they have good players all over the pitch,”

“Obviously they’re not in the best situation confidence-wise, but it’s the perfect game to turn it around for them.”

“We’re looking at ourselves and we want to make sure we’re ready for it and we are going to work hard this week again,”

“It’s massive but it’s not about making a statement, we want to win and do everything that’s possible to win there.”

However, Jurgen Klopp now has a lot to work upon and needs to make some reinforcements before the window concludes. Midfield is one area the Reds gaffer would look to bolster by making some new signings in order to compete.
