With Walker 33-years-old and in the final 12 months of his Manchester City contract,
It looked like the stars were aligning for him to ride off into sunset after helping the Blues to their treble triumph.
In the end however, Walker remained in east Manchester and committed the remaining peak years of his career to Pep Guardiola’s side

While Walker appears to have had a handful of options this summer,
The report suggests that Bramall Lane preferred destination had the newly promoted club
They have not been able to put together a package worthy enough of bringing the five-time Premier League winning defender back home.
The deal reportedly hinged on a potential takeover of the Yorkshire club,
Which would have aided in their ability to finance a deal for Walker.
However, the takeover did not materialise
The Blades remained on a shoestring budget despite a big payout after gaining promotion back to the top-flight in the summer.
It now looks like Walker will finish his career in the City shirt and with the captain’s armband
