Will Arsenal win the Premier League? Manchester United player makes a contentious statement

Ramsdale Martinelli interviews ESPN

According to Gary Neville, Arsenal, who are now leading the Premier League, will not win the title this year and may perhaps finish second.

Using an own goal from Hugo Lloris and a powerful shot from Martin Odegaard to defeat Tottenham 2-0 in the north London derby, the Gunners extended their lead atop the English top division to eight points on Sunday.

After winning 15 of their last 18 league games, Mikel Arteta’s team is now the betting favorite to win their first championship since the ‘invincible’ 2003–04 season.

Premier League Winner Gary Neville and His Take on Arsenal

Gary Neville does not, however, think that Arsenal will be able to mount a Premier League championship push despite their stellar play.

The Manchester United icon noted that there is still a tonne of football to be played this season on his Sky Sports podcast after Sunday’s game.

“I still think there’s a long, long way to go,”

declared the 47-year-old.

“This season reminds me of title races from Premier League seasons gone by, where you’d see one team run away with it early – like Arsenal have done.

“The favourites might start slowly, but they’ll kick into gear in March, April and May.”

Neville is skeptical about both Arsenal’s ability to finish second and their chances of winning the league. Instead, he fought for his beloved Red Devils, who won the Manchester derby on Saturday, to squeak into the top two.

It is unclear if Arteta will be able to lead Arsenal to victory, but Neville acknowledged that he would much rather see them win than watch Man City win a fifth Premier League title in six years.

“Fingers crossed that they [Arsenal] do win it, if Man Utd can’t, which I don’t think they can, because I’d rather have that for the Premier League.”

“Man City have won too many titles for me!”
