Tottenham inches close to sign Adama Traore

About Football Express UK

Tottenham is looking forward to signing Adama from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the January transfer window. The Spurs have been a long admirer of the Spanish winger.

Tottenham tried to sign the 25-year-old last summer. However, the North London club failed to crack a deal under Nuno Espirito Santo’s previous connections.

Adama started his youth at Barcelona B and was promoted to senior ranks later. He joined Wolves in the summer of 2018 for approximately $25m.

Meanwhile, the winger has 120 appearances under his belt out of which he has netted 7 goals. He is a utility player who can play both as a winger and a wing-back.

As a result, the Spurs are looking forward to signing Adama to solve their wing-back situation. Both Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty are struggling to adapt to the position. So, Conte has seemingly convinced Traore into accepting the role.

As per Daily Telegraph, The Spurs management backed by Daniel Levy will try to crack a deal with Adama in this transfer window. It is reported that his transfer would cost the Spurs around £25m. Yet, the amount seems less than what Wolves asked for in the previous season.

Spurs are also looking at the possibility of using Doherty as part of the deal. It seems interesting if his former club is keen to re-sign the Irish defender.

Wolves on Traore

Wolves manager Bruno Lage was asked about Adama potential departure to Tottenham. He clarified that he was happy to have Adama in his team. However, if the management decides to part with the Spaniard, he wouldn’t have a problem.

“You are giving me something new. I don’t know anything about that, but what I said before I will say again.

The most important thing, especially now, if it’s good for the club and it’s good for the player

The main thing is I’m happy with everyone.

Just now I was asked about Morgan (Gibbs-White) and I said I’m happy with Morgan (being at Sheffield United) because I’m happy with the four guys.

I’m happy with Adama, I’m happy with Daniel (Podence), with Trincao, with Hwang and I’m available to receive players and not to see anyone go. But you never know.”

So, it seems interesting if the deal materializes as the Spurs seem to be more than interested to sign the speedy winger.
