Tottenham Hotspurs hosted Morecambe in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The hosts escaped embarrassment courtesy of three late goals.

O’Connor gave the lead for the visitors in the 33rd minute. However, the goals from Winks, Lucas, and Kane saved the hosts from the upset.

Morecambe showed great determination to take the lead against Spurs and hold on to it till half-time. Antonio Conte’s men escaped a major scare to safely advance to the 4th round of the FA Cup.

Pierluigi Gollini (GK) – 3/10 – Mistakes in positioning and hardly offered the defenders any help in playing from the back.

Japhet Tanganga (CB) – 4/10 – Failed to mark his man which resulted in the goal.

Joe Rodon (CB) – 4/10 – Failed to man-mark his opponents a couple of times. However, did well in the duels.

Ben Davies (CB) – 5/10 – Not the best of games given his recent performances. Yet, had a better defensive display than the rest.

Matt Doherty (RWB) – 5/10 – Struggled with his off-the-ball runs and possessional gameplay. However, his off-ball runs improved after switching flanks.

Giovani Lo Celso (CM) – 3/10 – Had a very poor game, lost the balls at the centre of the pitch. Lacked pin-point passing and vision.

Harry Winks (CM) – 7/10 – A few loose passes but overall a good game for him. He scored and led the fight for a comeback in the closing stages.

Tanguy Ndombele (CM) – 3/10 – A bad game for him, full of errors. Hardly succeeded to put his impact on the game.

Ryan Sessegnon (LWB) – 6/10 – Had a good game both offensively and defensively.

Dele Alli (CF) – 4/10 – Played out of position and struggled to put an impact in the game.

Bryan Gil (CF) – 3/10 – A dismal performance by the youngster who failed to breach the opponent’s defence.

Substitutes:

Harry Kane- 7/10 – His arrival changed the game and led to the comeback.

Oliver Skipp- 6/10 – Brought some much-needed bite to the midfield.

Lucas Moura- 8/10 – Came on as a substitute and changed the direction of the match.

Emerson Royal- 7/10 – Came on for a few minutes and got a pre-assist. Job done.

Morecambe Player Ratings

Trevor Carson(GK)-7/10: The keeper pulled excellent saves. However, his indecision cost Morecambe the goal as he failed to judge Winks’ freekick.

Anthony O’Connor(CB)-8/10: A captain’s display. Defended well and scored the first goal of the match with a clever side-footed finish from the corner.

Jacob Bedeau(CB)-7/10: A debut to remember for the centre back. He made tackle after tackle to deny Spurs’ attackers any space inside the penalty box.

Ryan McLaughlin(CB)-4/10: A strong performance for the majority of the match. However, he made a mess as he gave away the ball to Lucas Moura.

Greg Leigh(LWB) 6/10: Leigh had a decent night but he lost the ball to Emerson Royal, which led to the third goal for the Spurs.

Ryan Cooney(RWB)-6/10: Cooney did a good job defending his side, and did not allow any space. However, his tackle led to the free-kick which eventually led to the equalizer.

Toumani Diagouraga(CM)-5/10: The midfielder stuck to his task of breaking up play and tackling brilliantly.

Alfie McCalmont(CM)-7/10: He put in a few delectable crosses for his strikers to pounce on. His efforts finally paid off as he provided the assist for the goal with an inch-perfect delivery.

Shane McLoughlin(CM)-6/10: He made a heroic tackle to deny Spurs from scoring inside the first half.

Cole Stockton(CF)-4/10: Morecambe’s talisman striker had a decent game with good positioning and off-the-ball runs.

Jonah Ayunga(CF)4/10: He had a decent game but did not have many opportunities to score.

Substitutes

Jonathan Obika 4/10: He came on to replace Ayunga at the hour mark but did not have much impact.

Liam Gibson 5/10: Failed to get himself accustomed to the high pace of the match, and looked uncomfortable with the ball after coming on to replace the excellent Bedeau.
