Real Madrid plotting a move for Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes

To fill in the place of the injured Eder Militao, Real Madrid might attempt to recruit Gabriel Magalhaes from Arsenal. Gabriel Magalhaes is a matter of interest for Los Blancos as reported by the Daily Mail. However, even after losing his position at the start of the 2023–24 season, the 25-year-old is reluctant to leave the North London team.

Real Madrid shows interest for Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes

Since moving to Arsenal from LOSC Lille in September 2020, Gabriel Magalhaes has developed significantly. The Brazilian star cost the North London club £27 million, plus add-ons. In his first three seasons at the Emirates, he was a stalwart in Arsenal’s defence.

However, the 25-year-old’s 2023–24 season has gotten off to a sluggish start. Unfortunately, he spent the first two Premier League games on the bench. And in those appearances, he has only been able to earn 24 minutes of game time. Arteta is now favouring William Saliba and Ben White rather than the Brazilian. Hence Gabriel’s future at Arsenal is thus in doubt since recent rumours have suggested that he may leave in this summer. According to reports from last week, teams from the Saudi Pro League have been monitoring his situation at Arsenal. But in light of the most recent development, those teams might end up being second-tier choices. Hence most importantly, Real Madrid ‘s interest can lure the recently out-of-favor central defender of Arsenal.

Gabriel Magalhaes doesn’t want to leave Arsenal this season

Eder Militao, who tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the season’s first game, is no longer with the Los Blancos squad due to a long-term injury. Only two reliable centre backs are available to Carlo Ancelotti now that the Brazilian international is out injured. The Real Madrid boss, however, cannot rely solely on David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger for the entire campaign. Real Madrid should therefore spend money on a replacement for injured Eder Militao. Hence Gabriel Magalhaes, a fellow countryman of the Brazilian international, has become a major target for Los Blancos.

However Gabriel is happy at Arsenal and determined to support Arteta’s team as they make another run to win the Premier League title this year. After acquiring so much talented players this summer, Arsenal cannot afford to lose any of their star players, and losing a star like Gabriel would be a complete nightmare.
