Chelsea shows interest in French youngster Bradley Barcola

Chelsea

Bradley Barcola, a 20-year-old Frenchman, is being targeted by Chelsea, according to Fabrizio Romano’s social media post. The Blues are considering the Lyon winger on their radar as a potential replacement after their offer for Michael Olise collapsed at the last minute. Paris Saint-Germain, however, is already interested in the dynamic Lyon winger. Also Premier League champions City are also eyeing him.

Chelsea competes with PSG to sign Bradley Barcola

The winger, who was born in Lyon, made his debut during the 2021/22 season. The frenchman has since evolved to play a significant role in the French club’s system. His primary position on the field is out wide, either as a right- or left-winger, but he is also capable of filling in elsewhere. The winger’s tall, athletic body allows him to move quickly and cover a lot of ground with his lengthy strides. With his natural dribbling talent and strong acceleration, he poses a devastating threat in open spaces and during counterattacks. He has been called “one of the best talents in his position in the world” by Romano.

The London club is keeping an eye on the status of Lyon prodigy Barcola in order to bolster their offensive potential. After the agreement for Olise fell through, the French man might be a good alternate. The newest name on the West London club’s shortlist is Barcola. However, if they decide to enter a bidding war for the player, PSG will present them with fierce opposition. The French juggernauts are reportedly favourites to sign the player and bring him to Paris. Chelsea is aware of the circumstances surrounding the youngster, therefore it will be interesting to see if they engage in a bidding battle with the Parisians for the 20-year-old.

Lyon’s asking price for the youngster is £50 million

The forward has a lot of versatility. His physical power and skill set enable him to deliver comfortably and successfully across the front three. If he ultimately decides to join with the Premier League team, this might be crucial to ensure that he gets playing time. His vision and ability to pick out a deadly pass in the final third are two of his underappreciated skills. The forward has excellent spatial awareness for somebody so young. Because of his ability to do so, he becomes an effective attacking weapon who can find gaps in the defence or make a precise incisive run in behind the defense.

However Chelsea might cash in atleast a £50 million deal for his services before PSG. Last season, the Frenchman earned 17 goals contributions. Even though the 20-year-old still has three years left on his Lyon deal, he might leave if a strong offer comes in. Chelsea and Manchester City could forfeit the option if PSG offers the amount soon.
