Chelsea might offload two star players this summer

Chelsea apparently plans to focus on offloading players after being the most active team in terms of signings during the summer transfer window. According to recent rumours, the Blues have listed another two first-team players for sale. Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah, according to a report from Football Insider, have been told that they are free to leave the squad if their asking prices are reached.

Chelsea might sell Gallagher and Chalobah this summer

Chelsea’s priority this summer has been on strengthening their midfield after spending more than £300 million for the third consecutive transfer window. The Blues already broke their own record when they acquired Enzo Fernandez from Benfica in January for a then-British record-breaking £106.8 million (Sky Sports). Recently, they broke it again when they acquired Moises Caicedo from Brighton for a then-British record-breaking £115 million. Romeo Lavia was also acquired by the Blues through a hefty deal with Southampton worth £50 million.

And owner Todd Boehly is reportedly ready to let both Gallagher and Chalobah depart before the summer transfer window closes. This is because they need to sell some players to balance their roster and their financial standings. Gallagher might to draw a lot of interest from a number of clubs. However Chalobah’s future is uncertain as he is presently suffering with a hamstring issue.

The Blues still in dilemma about the fate of the players

Tottenham and West Ham rumoured to be leading the pursuit to sign Gallagher. Few weeks ago, Gallagher appeared destined to leave Chelsea. Gallagher is still one of the six players Chelsea is trying to offload this summer, it has been revealed. According to recent sources, Gallagher wishes to stay and compete for his position. His future is still unresolved and Chelsea haven’t initiated any attempts to negotiate a new contract. There had been rumours that Chelsea will extend Gallagher’s current contract, which runs until 2025. However nothing has progressed as of yet. According to recent rumours, Trevoh Chalobah might be utilised by Chelsea in a prospective swap deal to land a striker. The striker is none other than Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson.

Beside Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah, If an appropriate offer arrives from any interested parties, Ian Maatsen, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Romelu Lukaku, and Hakim Ziyech are all reportedly available for sale.
