Man United is in the hot seat to sign Ousmane Dembele

About Football Express UK

Man United is very close to signing FC Barcelona playmaker Ousmane Dembele in the January transfer window. The Spanish giant is looking to part ways with the Frenchman due to his huge wage demands for contract renewal.

As per reports, Dembele’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, demanded a massive amount for himself and his client. Moreover, his demands are mostly based on the offers he has received from other clubs.

It is reported that Man United is ready to cash in a salary of €30 m per season. In addition, the agent has also asked for a signing bonus of €15 million for himself and another €30 m for Dembele.

Many renowned media outlets claim that the representatives are willing to agree on a new deal with the Catalan giant. However, the deal must comply with the same conditions offered by Man Utd and other suitors.

Due to these high wage demands, Barcelona confirmed that nothing is left for him in the club.

As spoken by Mateo Alemany on the club’s official Twitter page:

“With Ousmane and his agents we started conversations around the month of July,

Over that time, almost seven months, we have talked, Barça made different offers, we tried to find a way for the player to continue with us and those offers have been continuously rejected by his agents.

We told him and his agents that he must leave the club immediately because we want players committed to the project.

We expect a transfer before Jan. 31. From a sporting perspective, we don’t want to have players who don’t want to be at Barça.”

However, the Frenchman came out and dismissed all the claims made against him. So, it is fair to say that the relationship between the 24-year-old star and Barca cannot be mended.

Man United chances of signing Ousmane Dembele

According to Sport, Man Utd is ready to sign the Frenchman this month. The Red Devils are ready to meet the wage demands of the French international.

Moreover, Barca might also manage to get €20m if they manage to sell him in this transfer window. On the other hand, a swift deal will allow Man Utd to avoid competition from other clubs.

The 24-year-old was signed for a huge fee of £135million from Borussia Dortmund and his contract is set to expire this summer. As per Marca, the attacker currently earns €12 m per season.

Reportedly, Newcastle United, PSG, and other European top-tier clubs are also monitoring his current situation.
