Gabriel Jesus could be on his way to join Juventus

About Football Express UK

Gabriel Jesus may be heading for a new club as Juventus are reportedly interested in signing him. The 24-year-old forward is currently out of favour under current head coach Pep Guardiola.

Additionally, a void is left at the striker position due to Aguero’s departure to Barcelona. As Manchester City is keen on signing Harry Kane and/or Jack Grealish, the Brazillian’s future is in doubt.

Although he has two more years left in his contract, the club would be keen on earning a good amount of money so as to buy a new striker. However, the Italian club might consider a loan deal as the asking price could be as high as £ 54 million as per Transfermarkt.

More playing time for Gabriel Jesus at Juventus ?

Jesus joined Manchester City in 2017 from Brazillian giants Palmeiras. Since then, he has been a key player for the Sky Blues scoring 82 goals and bagging 34 assists in 195 appearances.

However, his form last season wasn’t up to the mark and the departure of legendary striker Sergio Aguero has been a concern. According to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, Juventus are interested in signing him.

But, a permanent deal won’t be possible as they might have to sell some of their current players too. Also, the transfer of Harry Kane looks complicated as Tottenham Hotspur won’t let their skipper join another club. Similarly, it would be a difficult situation so as to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa.

In addition to this, current head coach Guardiola has no other centre-forwards in the lineup. He is also a big fan of his selflessness. After the win against Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League, he said,

“He always thinks for the team and not himself. If he has had more of an ego he would have scored many more goals. Of course he knew it in that moment, he is the first to feel bad for himself and the team but when you see what he gives us and produces for us I don’t have anything to say – completely the opposite.”

After two friendlies against Preston and Estac Troyes, the Cityzens face Leicester City in the FA Community Shield final on 7th August. They begin their Premier League title defence against Tottenham Hotspur on 15th August.
