Everton striker Richarlison responds to Jammie Carragher’s swipe at him

Everton secured their Premier League status for next season in the most dramatic way possible. The Toffees needed a win against Crystal Palace in their last home game of the season. Lampard’s men came from two goals down to beat Palace 3-2 and ensure their safety. Michael Keane started the comeback and goals from Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison completed it. Moreover, Everton striker Richarlison took it to Twitter to retaliate at Liverpool legend Jammie Carragher after the game.

Everton seemed confident from their last few games going against Crystal Palace. However, a packed Goodison Park was silenced by the visiting Palace team within the first 21 minutes. Jean-Philippe Mateta opened the scoring for the visiting side to leave Everton shell-shocked. Further on, even before the Toffees could respond Palace bagged a second. Jordan Ayew finished off a scintillating move to pile up the misery on Everton.

But Frank Lampard turned the tides for Everton at the half-time as his players came in all guns blazing in the second half. Keane pulled one back in the 54th minute and gave the Everton fans something to cheer. Richarlison then struck in the 75th minute to pull Everton level. And this time, before Palace could understand what had happened, Calvert-Lewin scored the winner from five minutes to 90. The Everton players, as well as fans, were in ecstasy as Richarlison went after Carragher for what he had said about him last month.

Richarlison hits back at Carragher after Everton avoids the drop

Back in April, Carragher was commentating for Sky Sports for the Merseyside derby. His former club Liverpool easily won the fixture 2-0, but Carragher had something to say about Richarlison’s performance. The former defender seemed unhappy and unimpressed with Richarlison going to the ground far too easily for Everton. Though Frank Lampard complained about his side not being awarded a penalty, Carragher felt Richarlison was play-acting too much.

Carragher had said,

“Talking about Richarlison going down is nothing to do with bias. Every EFC game I do he goes down 3/4 times like he’s got a big injury then just gets up! It’s not about getting a penalty or a foul but pretending he’s hurt when he’s not.”

Now it was Richarlison’s turn to rant as head a go a Jammie Carragher after the Crystal Palace game. The Everton striker has clearly not held his feelings back in responding to Carragher. Richarlison has even stated that he “does not ‘respect’ the former Reds player. Richarlison wrote,

“Wash your mouth before you talk about me and Everton and I don’t respect you,”

on Twitter.

However, Carragher hasn’t replied to the Evertonian. Meanwhile, Everton now prepare for their final game of the season against Arsenal at the Emirates. Though they have ensured their safety, Everton will be eyeing a league double over Arsenal. Furthermore, Richarlison would also look to add to his Everton goal tally of this season which stands at 11.
