Following this result, Chelsea moved up to the top of the group and qualified for the knock-out stage alongside Juventus. The Blues have now got 12 points in five games. The Old Lady of Turin is currently sitting second in the group on the head-to-head rule.
After the game, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was delighted with his team’s performance and said that his team did everything that was expected of them to do and the result reflects exactly that. He said on the club’s website:
“It was a very strong performance and an outstanding result. We knew we had to be patient and at the same time be responsible for the rhythm and intensity. We had to take care about the details when to accelerate the game and be sharper like in the first match, and the team did all this. It was a great performance from everybody so full credit to the players – what an effort, what an attitude.”
On the other hand, Juventus boss Allegri praised the Blues performance. Stating that it will be a learning experience for his team. The Bianconeri boss said on the club’s website:
“We played well in the first half, while in the second we suffered the pressure of Chelsea who are a team in good form and are very strong technically. We are sorry to have conceded four goals, but we must not forget that we have reached our first goal of the season, namely the passage to the Round of 16, with two matches to spare. An evening like this must serve as a lesson because we can also learn something from defeats. Now we will have to put this result behind us and focus on the next match against Atalanta, which will be very important for us.”
The upcoming fixtures for both teams:
Chelsea will be hosting Manchester United in their next game on Sunday in the Premier League. Juventus will welcome Atalanta in their next game on Saturday in Serie A.
