Lisandro Martinez names Gabriel Jesus as the toughest defender he has faced

Gabriel Jesus is one of the main reasons why Arsenal is dominating the Premier League.

Although the Brazilian hasn’t appeared for the Gunners since November, his addition last summer significantly altered this Arsenal team’s mindset.

He started the season strong as well, contributing three assists and five goals in his first nine league appearances for the team.

The Argentine World Cup winner selected Jesus as the most difficult opponent he has faced since joining Manchester United in an interview with The Telegraph. Martinez has faced a number of elite players in the Premier League this season.

The Brazilian will be back

This week, Football London announced that Jesus would be making a comeback in March. In his news conference yesterday, Mikel Arteta also delivered an encouraging report on the 25-year-old.

“He’s progressing really well. He’s doing more and more on the field and he’s not reacting [negatively], so that’s really positive,” Arteta said, as per Arsenal.com.

“We want to have him as quickly as possible but also respect the timeframe we got from the doctor and the specialists. He’s really pushing the boundaries right now.”

Jesus is close at hand right now, which is a huge advantage for Arsenal as the title competition intensifies.
