Transfers: Villa and Leeds show interest in Sonny Perkins

Steven Gerrard

Aston Villa and Leeds United have shown interest in West Ham midfielder Sonny Perkins. Perkins has not negotiated a contract to extend his term at West Ham. The 18-year-old is likely to leave West Ham in the Summer for another team that can meet his demands.

Perkins has made 20 Premier League, 2 appearances this season, and has found the back of the net 10 times. Moreover, he has scored 4 times in the under 18 Premier League as well. His splendid form gave him a call to the first team. Since Perkins has made 2 appearances in all competitions for West Ham in top-flight Leagues. He made his debut against Leeds however the result went against them.

Perkins has been the find of the season for West Ham as the youngster has been amazing in the youth leagues. However, Perkins has demanded a high wage from West Ham which is more than what the Hammers can afford at the moment. Hence, Perkins does not want to extend his contract. Moreover, Perkins, 18, is a young striker and someone who can be a great future prospect for any club. Hence, there are a number of clubs in the running for Perkins.

Aston Villa or Leeds

Aston Villa are a club in transition as Steven Gerrard attempts to rebuild it. Villa could fight for domestic titles in a couple of seasons if Gerrard’s plan is executed perfectly. However, there is no guarantee they would. Villa have better players in the squad and it is unlikely Perkins would manage to get a lot of game time at his age.

Leeds on the other hand have struggled and barely stayed in the Premier League. However, Perkins could get more game time at Leeds rather than at Villa as players like Raphinha look to leave.
