AS Roma are desperate to get in another midfielder this summer and now it looks like Albert Sambi Lokonga is the man.

AS Roma have made their decision on potentially signing Albert Sambi Lokonga. This is from Arsenal this summer after manager Jose Mourinho was offered the Belgian’s transfer.

That is according to Gazzetta dello Sport . It reports that intermediaries have approached Roma. That is inorder to discuss a transfer for Lokonga. The Serie A side are looking to sign new midfielders in this transfer window. Mourinho is pushing to build on losing his first Europa League final.

Roma signed Georginio Wijnaldum on loan from Paris Saint-Germain. That was ahead of the 2022/23 season to add depth in their core but that move turned out to be a flop. But Wijnaldum suffered a fracture in training in his first days in Rome. Now, another PSG player might be on his way to the Roma

Albert Sambi Lokonga wants a move away from the limelight

Arsenal signed Lokonga from RSC Anderlecht for £15m. That could be rising to £17m with add-ons. This is back in July 2021. He also put pen to paper on a contract running until June 2026. That is to secure a switch to Emirates Stadium. Arsenal considered him at the time to be a signing for the future.

Yet his future in north London is increasingly uncertain. This is after falling out of favour whilst away on loan last time. Lokonga joined Crystal Palace under Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira. That is during the January window. But he struggled to get any minutes after Roy Hodgson took charge over inorder to secure Premier League status.

Roma could be a possible destination but they are looking at Renato Sanches at the moment. If that fails they will move in for Lokonga. Lokonga might prefer a move back to his fromer coach Vincent Kompany at Burnley.
