Pep wants Valverde on his side of Manchester City

About Football Express UK

Pep Guardiola is looking forward to signing Fede Valverde from Real Madrid in the January transfer window. The Uruguayan is reportedly unhappy due to the lack of game time he is getting under Carlo Ancelotti recently.

The 23-year-old is a versatile midfielder who can play both in central midfield areas as well as in the wider areas. He was a starter for the Los Blancos and formed developed a great combination in the midfield.

However, after suffering a sprain at the end of October, Valverde is finding it difficult to get back his spot. Moreover, the signing of Camavinga also came as a hindrance as Carlo Ancelotti seems to prefer the French youngster more.

Valverde joined Real Madrid for around £5m from Uruguayan side Penarol in 2016. Since then he was promoted through the youth ranks to become a regular in the side.

As per El Nacional, he has informed Real management that he could opt for a move this month if things don’t change. Meanwhile, Pep has been a long-term admirer of Valverde’s abilities. He would surely like to have the midfielder in his side.

According to many reports, Manchester City is planning for a big-money move in this window. The Cityzens are currently at the top of the Premier League table with 53 points out of the 21 played. They are currently in a great run of form winning all of their last 5 matches.

So, the fact that City remains in the title race and are favourites to win the Champions League might please Valverde to join them. As for the Cityzens, Valverde’s addition would consolidate the midfield and his versatility to play in several roles will help them immensely.

Other interested clubs

Other than Manchester City, other European giants like LiverpoolBayern Munich and PSG are all monitoring Valverde’s situation. Valverde’s contract with real runs till the summer of 2027.

So, Real would ask for a big price if the midseason signing takes place. As a result, the Man City edge past others as they can pull off the big signing.

Guardiola already has a lot of quality midfielders in his side. However, the Spanish tactician often pushes Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, further forward into the attack to fill the place for a No.9. As a result, he can easily slot in Valverde in midfield.

Fede Valverde has made 124 appearances to date scoring 5 goals and putting in 7 assists which could be why Pep is interested in him. As it stands, Premier League fans could see his services in England very soon
