Newcastle United are apparently concerned about the growing interest for midfielder Bruno Guimaraes by several top clubs. They hope to tie the 24-year-old down to a new long-term contract.
The Brazilian midfielder arrived at Newcastle from Lyon for a fee of £40m. His strong displays have been key to Newcastle’s mercurial successes so far. He has firmly established himself as one of the best Midfielders in the League. He is thus being targeted by several top Premier League and European clubs.
Chelsea have reportedly been ‘studying a proposal’ for the Brazilian. Arsenal and Barcelona are also some of the reported suitors for the Brazilian international. Newcastle however are keen to retain the midfielder’s services. They consider him the face of their new project.
Speaking on the matter, reputed reporter Fabrizio Romano had this to say:
“They [Newcastle] know that any top clubs are keeping an eye on Bruno Guimaraes. We have rumours on Chelsea, but I’m told there are also other clubs in England prepared to attack Bruno because they consider him a top player for the summer after the World Cup.
“But at the moment, Newcastle feel confident, they want to offer him a new deal, they want Bruno to be one of the faces of the project.
“They know that he is happy in Newcastle, and so they will offer him a new contract. This is the plan and they want Bruno to stay [for the] long term.
“So it’s true that there is an alert, because many important English clubs are there. But Bruno is happy there and so Newcastle will try to extend again his contract and [get him] to sign a new deal to have Bruno as the face of the project for the future.”
Where does the future of Bruno Guimaraes lie?
Bruno Guimaraes has been one of Newcastle’s finest performers this season. He has had two goals and two assists so far this season. He has started in all 10 of Newcastle’s matches so far and is yet to lose a single one.
His current contract ends in 2026. Fortunately, this allows Newcastle a solid advantage in negotiations.
