Manchester United over Chelsea: Romeo Lavia transfer

About Football Express UK

Romeo Lavia could choose to play for Erik ten Hag rather than Graham Potter, according to Dean Jones via Give Me Sport. The 19-year-old Chelsea target, who might leave Southampton to play for a more prestigious club in the summer, is apparently attracting interest from Manchester United.

Romeo Lavia remains high on the shortlists of many prominent Premier League sides. The 19-year-old Chelsea prospect has impressed this season with Southampton, earning 22 appearances. Some top-six teams view him as having better talent and want him in their lineups.

Chelsea has been interested in the midfielder since the summer and has maintained contact with them over a transfer. After acquiring Enzo Fernandez, Todd Boehly aims to strengthen their midfield with further firepower. A player like Lavia might aid the Argentine in making a little progress and strengthen the Blues’ positional strength.

Lavia is a player that Manchester United is interested in as well. But they are up against a lot of opposition. The Belgian could leave the Saints if they are eliminated at the end of the season. His future professional prospects are bright. According to journalist Dean Jones, the midfielder prefers to play for Ten Hag over Potter.

Which club should Lavia choose? Manchester United or Chelsea

Jones said, “I’m sure he’d rather play under Ten Hag than under Graham Potter. The way Ten Hag, this season, has been able to improve individuals on the whole has been really impressive.”

“There have been some players in that side that were really underperforming and he’s managing to get levels out of them again. There’s still a long way to go for him — no doubt about it — but he is rebuilding that Man United team.”

While Chelsea are not Ten Hag’s largest obstacle in the pursuit, Manchester United a nice destination for Lavia. In reality, Manchester City, a nearby competitor, poses the biggest threat to the Red Devils. Because of a £40 million buy-back clause in his contract.

Manchester City also interested in re-signing the Southampton midfielder in the summer. If the Saints decide to sell, it would be a major setback for Manchester United’s attempts to get Lavia. Because Pep Guardiola’s team would have first dibs on the Belgian.

Manchester United may have a chance if Man City decides not to pursue Lavia. But Guiardiola’s team may step in and stop their rivals from getting stronger. As things stand, a transfer fight for the 19-year-old Chelsea target may develop in the summer. The midfielder poised for a solid Premier League career.
