Alejandro Garnacho injury worse, could miss Argentina games

Manchester

On Sunday against Southampton, the 18-year-old Garnacho was substituted in the second half. He was the victim of a strong but legal challenge from full-back Kyle Walker-Peters.

In the last minutes of the 0-0 stalemate, the winger needed medical attention and was eventually replaced by Fred. He hobbled down the sidelines and was subsequently seen leaving Old Trafford while using crutches and a protective boot.

Erik ten Hag said he did not believe the injury was “that terrible” considering United’s next matches against Real Betis. And also against Fulham in the FA Cup on Sunday.

For the first time, Garnacho was called up to the senior Argentina team for the matches against Curacao and Panama. The matches are scheduled on March 23 and 28, respectively. Argentina need him as he is great future talent.

But according to TyC Sports, the young player will now miss those games since the injury he sustained on Sunday. It was more serious than initially thought after additional scans on Tuesday.

Roberto Garnacho, Alejandro’s brother, also posted on social media about the incident. ‘I know you will come back stronger‘ the caption read.

Garnacho, a future star

Garnacho made his first team debut in October. The former Atletico Madrid teenager has scored four goals and assisted on five more. He scored the vital second goal in the 3-1 FA Cup victory over West Ham in the fifth round.

Casemiro received second consecutive red card of the season against Southampton. Because of this, he will miss 4 games. United will already be without him for the next four games.

When United chose not to appeal the judgement, the former Real Madrid star will miss Sunday’s FA Cup quarterfinal. He will also miss matches against Newcastle, Brentford, and Everton in the Premier League.

If Tottenham defeats Southampton on Saturday at St. Mary’s, they will pass United to move into fourth position. It will be a huge boost for Spurs.

Due to their FA Cup match at Fulham this weekend, United won’t be back in league play. That too until the first weekend of April. But when they do, they’ll be two games ahead of Antonio Conte’s team. Garnacho is a future star.
