Manchester City player ratings vs Newcastle

Newcastle United

Manchester City took on Newcastle on Sunday. City ended up demolishing Newcastle 5-0. The win gave City a 3 point advantage over rivals Liverpool as they dropped points against Tottenham. Manchester City are in the driving seat for the title. Here are the City player ratings.

Manchester City Starting XI

Defence

Ederson – Another clean sheet which takes his tally to 20 for the season. Didn’t have much to do which seems the niche when City win big.

Player Rating: 7

Joao Cancelo – Had a difficult start with an early miss. However, assisted Sterling’s goal and bettered his performance as the match went on.

Player Rating: 7

Ruben Dias – Substituted at half time possibly overseeing an injury. Would be a great miss for City if he is ruled out for the rest of the season as they are pushing for the title.

Player Rating: 6.5

Aymeric Laporte – Another inspired performance from the centre back. Scored City’s second and looked in good touch.

Player Rating: 7.5

Oleksandr Zinchenko – Zinchenko is improving at City with his mature performances and could soon be the first choice centre back. Assisted Foden’s goal as well.

Midfield

Rodri – Another solid performance from Rodri as he controlled the City midfield. Scored a deserved header in the second half and secured a comprehensive win for the Blues.

Player Rating: 8

Gundogan – Not the best of games but not the worst either.

Player Rating: 6.5

Kevin De Bruyne – Running out of words to describe De Bruyne. Another extraordinary performance. Deserved MOM.

Player Rating: 8

Attack

Jack Grealish – Slowly turning into the player we used to see at Villa. Solid performance.

Player Rating: 6.5

Raheem Sterling – Scored twice and put the game to bed. Sterling is looking good and is just what City need before the final push.

Player Rating: 8

Gabriel Jesus – Quiet game for Jesus however upped his game in the second half.

Player Rating: 6

Subs

Fernandinho – Did well considering he was substituted as a centre back after Dias was injured.

Player Rating: 6.5

Foden – scored a goal and added one more to Newcastle’s misery.

Player Rating: 7

Egan-Riley – Not much to say besides he made his Premier League debut.

Player Rating: N/A
