Manchester City’s £100m Bid for Jack Grealish has been agreed on by Aston Villa.  According to Fabrizio Romano, Jack Grealish will be undergoing his medical on Thursday. Manchester City had gotten in direct contact with Aston Villa last week to decide a fee.

Jack Grealish played 26 games in the league last season. He scored 6 and assisted 10 goals while passing 3.2 key passes per 90. He had a Goal conversion rate of 12%. Grealish made 6.18 shot-creating actions that are below the likes of Lionel Messi. He also made 12.6 progressive ball carries and 6.92 progressive passes per 90. Jack Grealish had signed a contract extension last season till the year 2025 with Aston Villa. Currently, he is valued at £58.50m by Transfermarkt. From February to the end of May, he was down with an injury missing most of the end of the season.

This signing which has been made by Manchester city is simply a statement to the Premier League. The reigning champions last season won the league with ease but this year would be a tough task. Jack Grealish has been one of the most creative players in the league for the last few seasons. Last season Jack Grealish played in multiple positions in the attacking lineup, displaying his flexibility around the squad. With Manchester City’s emphasis on fluid football, Jack Grealish shall be a perfect fit for the squad.

How will Jack Grealish fit into the Manchester City Squad?

While having such a talented squad on their hands, many would feel that this deal won’t be that helpful. If you believe that you would be short sighting yourself for the next two seasons. Currently, the three most creative players of the squad Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, and Ilkay Gündogan are above 29. This shows that the club is already rebuilding the squad for the next 3 years from now. Jack Grealish shall be turning 26 this year showing that he hasn’t even hit his physical peak and has such outstanding stats for a creative midfielder. Currently, the Manchester City squad has an average squad age of 26.7 years. With the club also looking to sign Harry Kane this season, this might be the start of quite the dominant era of Manchester City.

This year, it does feel like the year where Manchester City could be challenging for all the titles, they can compete in. With a squad that can rotate and is effective in multiple formations without feeling like they have weakened a tad bit, in the coming years we could be seeing Manchester City do the International Quadruple.
