Man Utd plans to replace unlucky player with a Bundesliga acquisition: Reports

Manchester United

The schedule for Man Utd has been quite busy since the new year. That is what pursuing trophies on four fronts will do to a club, but it is a tiny price to pay when medals are raised at the finish line.

Right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka is one player who has a significant role in 2023. The 25-year-old has piled up 13 starts across all competitions in two months. This comprises both of the Barcelona matches in the Europa League, the fourth-round EFL Cup match, and both semi-final legs.

Wan-Bissaka replaced the injured Diogo Dalot and played 56 minutes in the quarterfinal triumph over Charlton Athletic. In the final on Sunday, he came off the bench once more, this time at the halfway point.

The door was clearly opened for Wan-Bissaka in 2023 by Dalot’s injury problems, and from all accounts, he has walked right through.

Man Utd’s pursuit of an unthinkable quadruple may already have failed without Wan-Bissaka being signed and performing at a high level at right-back.

Ten Hag may, however, prefer a player who is more attack-oriented, according to persistent rumours. As a result, connections to Denzel Dumfries of Inter Milan and Jeremie Frimpong of Bayer Leverkusen have persisted.

As the summer transfer window draws near, a Man Utd move for Frimpong is reportedly becoming “more and more clear,” according to Sky Deutschland. Frimpong is worth between £40 and £50 million, although a deal might be able to be struck for between £30 and £35 million.

Without a doubt, the Dutch international would be a better offensive addition than Wan-Bissaka. Frimpong has accrued 22 goal contributions from 64 appearances while playing either right defender or right wing-back for Leverkusen during the past 18 months.

First of all, he stated that Frimpong is’still on the list’ for Man Utd’s prospective right-back acquisitions.

Plettenberg clarified that there are currently “no concrete conversations,” despite other sources claiming that initial communication with Leverkusen has begun.

Frimpong, though, considered “eager to make the next step” up in class. This is good news for Ten Hag and company.

Moving to United, who on Sunday ended their six-year trophy drought, would match that description. In the absence of a late-season slide, the Red Devils likewise expected to make the Champions League.

It makes sense that Wan-Bissaka would be blamed if Man United did move for Frimpong.

While both players were healthy, Ten Hag favoured Dalot above the other candidate. Both David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano recently stated that negotiations for a new long-term deal for the Portuguese will start soon.

According to James Ducker of The Telegraph, United must “sell well”. If they want to bring in the kind of players they want this summer.

Because to his excellent performances in 2023, Wan-Bissaka has gained visibility and increased market transfer worth.
