According to reports, Premier League side Aston Villa are ready to make an offer for Candian striker Jonathan David in the summer transfer window.

Jonathan David has drawn plenty of attention from Premier League sides ahead of a possible switch in the summer. The likes of Aston Villa, West Ham United and Arsenal are all scouting the 22-year-old. While European giants Liverpool, Dortmund and Inter Milan are also scouting the young striker. The 22-year-old had made a total of 46 appearances across all competitions this term. In this time he has a decent goal return, he has scored 17 goals. (stats via Transfermarkt)

Aston Villa have been pretty active in the transfer market in recent transfer windows. The club sold Jack Grealish for an English record transfer fee in the summer. While they signed Emiliano Buendía, Leon Bailey and Danny Ings as replacements. While in the January transfer window, the club signed Lucas Digne and Philippe Coutinho. The club have also announced the deal to make the Philippe Coutinho loan deal permanent.

Alongside Jonathan David, the Premier League outfit are also scouting Ureguian striker Luis Suarez. Steven Gerrard will be hoping that he can convince his former teammate to join his side.  Luis Suarez is out of contract in the summer. He is set to leave the Spanish outfit on a free transfer in the summer.

Can Jonathan David help Steven Gerrard’s side reach the next level?

Aston Villa already have two top English strikers at the club in Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings. While young strikers Keinan Davis and Cameron Archer are likely to return from loan spells in the Championship. But Ollie Watkins is linked with a switch to fellow Premier League side Arsenal.

West Ham United are also keen to sign the Candian striker. The hammers are looking for a striker to challenge Michail Antonio. Both Aston Villa and West Ham are ready to pay the €50 million price tag placed on the striker.

But both the Premier League sides will need to be careful as the young striker is fairly unproven in the big leagues till now. West Ham previously spend big money on Sébastien Haller in a recent season. But the move was a complete disaster for both the parties. The Villans will need to be mindful of the big price tag on the forward.
