Jesse Lingard to stay at Manchester United

About Football Express UK

Jesse Lingard would be probably staying with his current club, Manchester United for at least this season. After a dream loan stint at West Ham United, the Red Devils are interested in keeping him at Old Trafford.

The 28-year-old midfielder had a superb season with the Hammers and he would be looking forward to recreating the form for his current club. He is currently part of head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans.

Lingard would also be thinking about getting a contract extension after the end of the season as his contract expires next year.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer satisfied with Jesse Lingard’s run of form at West Ham

Jesse Lingard made a surprise decision last season due to his lack of playing time. He joined the Hammers and in 16 appearances, he scored nine goals and bagged five assists in the Premier League.

Manchester United made a bright start to their season after a 2-1 win over minnows Derby County. Youngsters Tahith Chong and Facundo Pellistri, after their loan stints at Birmingham and Alaves respectively, were the goalscorers. Although Lingard couldn’t find a breakthrough, still he was a threat to the opposition defence.

After the match, coach Solskjaer said about him as follows,

“He was one of the positives. He’s a Manchester United player and he wants to fight for his place. He’s come back bright, confident and with lots of energy. I think everyone saw what he did at the end of last season with West Ham.”

He has included Lingard in his plans and would most likely try to keep him in the club. However, West Ham may be looking to sign him for a permanent deal at the end of the season if he fails to extend his contract.
